Global Interaction in Design Education (GLIDE) a virtual conference running biennially from 2008 to 2012, disseminated research in graphic/communication design. With funding from the AIGA Design Educator’s Community; The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; and National Science Foundation the inaugural GLIDE 2008 conference occurred on October 22 of that year. It featured synchronous refereed full and poster papers, plenary presentations, and asynchronous blog and wiki discussions and a keynote blog discussion. Educators and graduate students conducting research in graphic/communication design were invited to submit proposals on topics related to the conference’s theme for presentation at one-day, virtual conferences.
